From smaller projects such as landscaping schemes, shopping developments and parking facilities or larger projects such as airports and ports.
What is a slot drain?
A slot drain is a linear drain system that is installed underground and is used to expel groundwater to prevent flooding. Slot drains are another type of channel drain or trench drain system. In contrast to these systems, a slot drain does not include a grating on top and with less slot drain visible, it provides a less obtrusive finish. This makes it increasingly popular for areas where there is high pedestrian traffic or applications that require a better aesthetic look, such as landscaping schemes. They are, however, also popular across a wide range of applications including areas with ultra loading traffic.

What do the different load ratings of slot drain mean?
Load ratings of slot drain are used to distinguish between the different applications that the drainage can be used for. From A15 being the lowest to F900 being the highest.
- A15 slot drain loading:
This rating is for mainly domestic use. Types of projects include landscaping in gardens and patios, or areas used for pedestrians or cyclists. In areas where anything is over 1.5 tonnes, products with this load rating will not support the weight and not be suitable.
- B125 slot drain loading:
This rating is for smaller scale projects, such as public footpaths and driveways. In areas where loads are over 12.5 tones, this channel will not support the weight.
- C250 slot drain loading:
This rating is for loading applications such as commercial areas and car parks or light traffic highways. In areas where loads are over 25 tonnes, this channel is not suitable.
- D400 slot drain loading:
This rating is for areas with car parking for heavy vehicles, such as factories, supermarket carparks and carriageways of major roads. In areas where loads exceed a weight of over 40 tonnes, it is not suitable.
- F900 slot drain loading:
This rating is for areas with the highest weight of loading traffic, such as airports and ports. It is manufactured to withstand a weight of up to 90 tonnes.
