Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a perforated and unperforated pipe?
Perforated and unperforated pipes both have their uses.
For example, perforated drainage pipes are used to take in water from the ground. They have tiny holes around them which allow the water from the ground to enter the pipe after travelling through the soil above. The water then either percolates into the surrounding soil or is taken to an underground drainage system – preventing standing water.
Unperforated drainage pipes, on the other hand, are primarily used to distribute surface water – not foul water. This type of pipework does not dissipate water into the surrounding area – it simply redirects it to another water body (i.e. river or soakaway system).

How much do unperforated pipes cost?
The price you’ll pay for unperforated drainage pipes can vary depending on several factors, including your required diameter and coil length.
As with most things, larger pipes in longer lengths are likely to cost more than narrower/shorter pipes. However, we guarantee some of the most competitive prices around, allowing you to purchase the unperforated drainage pipes you need without breaking the bank.
All our prices are inclusive of VAT, so you needn’t worry about there being any hidden fees.

What are the benefits of using unperforated Twinwall drainage pipes?
Here at Cotterill Civils, we are proud to supply unperforated Twinwall pipes that are perfect for use in surface water and stormwater applications.
Available in a selection of sizes – ranging from 150mm to 1050mm – and 1, 1.5 and 6m lengths, they are commonly used by the leisure, agricultural and commercial sectors to construct infrastructure – usually beneath pavements, tarmacked roads, airports and railways.
Our Twinwall drainage pipes are manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a plastic material that is lighter than concrete but stronger than PVC. Corrugated on the outside for additional strength, they have a smooth inner bore to ensure a high flow rate.
Unperforated pipes like these can be easily cut to size using a handsaw if required. And ring seals can be inserted to ensure they are watertight.
