Last week we carried out a company charity bake off in aid of #shoutourforliv and what a turnout we had!
From a rainbow chocolate cake, to cookie dough brownies, to rice crispy cakes, the entries were amazing. Farmer Brian, our MD’s father, channeled his Paul Hollywood for us and did an excellent job at judging the bakes, rating them for looks and taste. A big congratulations to Freddie Barley, our Service Manager, who won the bake off and gained the coveted title of ‘Star Baker’ with an apron to match.
We raised a total of £135 which is being match funded by the company, so we will be donating an amazing £270 to #shoutoutforliv. This is in memory of Olivia, who sadly passed away, aged just 11 years old, after an acute asthma attack on Christmas Eve in 2020. All funds raised by #shoutoutforliv are being donated to Asthma UK.
It’s so important that people take asthma seriously, take their inhalers and have appointments with their asthma nurse and discuss their plan. The Covid pandemic has highlighted the importance of looking after our lungs and the vulnerabilities of people with Asthma. At least 3 people die from Asthma in the UK every year. Asthma UK’s mission is to stop asthma attacks and cure asthma.
A big thank you to everyone who baked or donated and made this a really fun afternoon!
