What is an inspection chamber?

Inspection chambers enable your drains to be cleaned on a regular basis, essentially preventing the formation of blockages. The drain inspection chamber is also designed to make it easier to assess the underground drainage network, whether it is to clean or clear a blockage or simply an inspection to make sure that it’s performing efficiently.

How does it work?

The base of these concrete inspection chambers is moulded to hold the drainage pipes in place, securing them to inlets and outlets whilst the risers sit above the base. More risers can be added to the base and the cover and frame will sit at ground level, on top of the last riser.

Concrete Inspection chambers are often provided precast, so all you need to do is install them into the ground and into your piping system. This is best accomplished with a new pipeline, before everything else has been installed and used, but it is possible with an existing pipeline. The precast sections of concrete fit together the same way that a manhole ring would fit together, with a groove-and-tongue joint and can be sealed with either concrete mortar or a bitumen sealant to render it completely waterproof.
