Helping our local foodbank during the cost of living crisis

The current cost of living crisis is leading to a significant rise in the demand for foodbanks across the UK. With this in mind, we decided to pull together and donate emergency supplies to our local Trussell Trust foodbank in Erdington last month.

The Trussell Trust is a nationwide network of foodbanks, donating emergency food and support to those in poverty and campaigning for change to end the need for foodbanks in the UK. Currently more than 14 million people live in poverty in the UK - 4.3 million of those being children. The Trussell Trust supports 1,200 food banks in the UK to provide a minimum of 3 days worth of nutritionally-balanced food to those in need.

We had a fantastic response from not only our team, but also our customers. A volunteer from the foodbank commented: “Thank you very much for your donation, the amount of people struggling this Christmas is much higher than previous years, so we very much appreciate any help possible”.

More now than ever it’s so important to help those less fortunate than ourselves. If you would like to donate please visit https://www.trusselltrust.org/get-help/find-a-foodbank/ to find your local foodbank.

At Cotterills we are committed to helping good causes where we can, and we have also held various charity events nearing the end of 2022 including the Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning and the Big Breakfast in aid of helping disadvantaged young women. We look forward to supporting numerous other charities coming into the new year of 2023.
