Here at Cotterill Civils, health and safety is, and always has been our number one priority. As a business, we do everything we can to ensure we provide a safe and secure workplace for all.
Having successfully acquired and maintained our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation, it is a great delight to announce that we have now been awarded the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Standard certification.
After three days of thorough assessment from the ISO officials, we waited patiently for our results.
And it was good news!!
Our health and safety officer Anthony Brownsett confirmed that we had passed our assessment and achieved this significant certification. In addition to retaining our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, we achieved ISO 45001 as a result of a collective endeavour to implement the safest working practices. Less than 5% of companies in the UK hold UKAS accreditation in all three standards, which highlights the significance of this achievement.
The main areas of the audit focused on the following:
- Legal compliance
- Robust risk assessments
- Method statements
- Consultation and participation of all staff
- Engagement of directors,
- Continuous training and measures of improvement
Our journey to gain Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety certification began all the way back in 2016, and we will continue to strive for exceptional health and safety standards in the future. We intend to continually improve our business across all 3 standards, with aspirations to become Carbon Neutral in the next 3 years.
“I am delighted to announce that Cotterill Civils Group has achieved its ISO 45001 status for excellence in Health & Safety.
Safety is our highest priority in everything we do. We have a continually evolving safety culture that runs throughout the business and is taken very seriously by all our teams.
Our ISO 45001 Health & Safety status now compliments our existing ISO 9001 quality standard and ISO 14001 Environmental standard, making us a triple standard organisation we are extremely proud of.
I would like to thank everyone in the organisation for their continual commitment to excellence.”
- Andy Cotterill, Managing Director
A safe working environment is an integral part of our business. It not only protects the well-being of colleagues, but it also increases productivity and improves the overall business performance. When employees feel safe and secure in their workplace, they are more likely to feel motivated and engaged in their work, leading to higher levels of job satisfaction.
Ultimately, prioritising health and safety in the workplace benefits everyone involved and contributes to a positive and successful work culture, something which we strive for at Cotterills.
