Supporting mental health in the construction industry with the Lighthouse Charity

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, which we feel is important to highlight, especially as the construction sector is one of the worst sectors when it comes to people suffering with their mental health. In the UK, two construction workers take their own lives everyday and stress, anxiety and depression account for a fifth of all work-related illnesses - so how can we help make a difference?

Cotterill Civils are company supporters of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity which provides financial and emotional support to the construction community and their families. This could be due to an injury, a long term illness or simply needing a hand. They support education and training initiatives, fund ideas to improve health or safety in the work environment, and provide services like the 24-hour Construction Industry Helpline. The charity is 100% focussed on improving the welfare and wellbeing of the construction community in the UK and Ireland. Greater awareness and support of mental health in the construction industry is needed and as a company we always strive to help our employees in any way we can. If someone's mental health is affecting their daily life, they may benefit from further support.
