The Severn Trent Environmental Protection Scheme (STEPS) grant application window is open until 31st January 2022 and covers our rainwater harvesting products – so don’t miss out! Here’s some useful information on the scheme and whether you are eligible.
STEPS for protecting water quality has been running since 2015, and has awarded more than 1,900 grants for projects.
Qualifying farmers in the Midlands are eligible for up to £10,000 of match funding to help protect water and improve productivity. Protecting watercourses from pesticides is one of the key focuses of STEPS. Arable farmers can help do this by applying for funding to cover sprayer washdown areas, install pesticide biofilters, plant buffer strips or fit precision pesticide application technology.
Are you eligible?
To be eligible for this scheme:
- you must actively farm the land you have
- You must be in a priority catchment in the Severn Trent region (Are you in a priority catchment? | Catchment Management | Environment | About Us | Severn Trent Water)
- Applying for funding for a system that’s eligible, see here for the full list:
If you fit the criteria, Severn Trent will match fund you up to £10,000.
According to the Severn Trent website applicants demonstrating a clear water quality benefit to the issues of concern in that area and who have engaged with Severn Trents local agricultural advisor are most likely to be successful.
