Farm grant to improve water quality and soil health

Farm grant to improve water quality and soil health

Good news for our farming customers in the Midlands – Severn Trent Water has just launched the latest funding round of its environmental protection scheme (STEPS). The scheme provides a wide range of options to farmers for infrastructure investments and land management items to improve water quality, soil health and the wider environment.

Eligibility for the grant will depend on what catchment area you fall – the scheme targets farms that border Severn Trent’s rivers in the midlands.

What products does it cover?

The grant covers a wide range of products including some of the ones we sell such as rainwater harvesting solutions, culvert pipe and water pipe. Depending on your catchment area though will determine the sort of products that are covered.

For example, farms in a pesticide catchment area are more likely to succeed in obtaining a grant that would cover the materials for a pesticide washdown and this could include a rainwater harvesting system. Click here to read Severn Trent’s guide outlining the requirements and application process as well as the type of products that farms are more likely to be given funding for.

You can also speak to your local agricultural advisor from Severn Trent for advice – see the list here.

The deadline to apply for the grant is the end of January 2021.
