Installation of a septic tank at a grade II listed house

We’ve been installing sewage treatment solutions for almost 30 years and have built up a reputation for the quality of our service. Here’s an example of a septic tank we installed at a beautiful Grade 2 listed house. In this scenario, we needed to avoid causing any damage to the well-manicured gardens, which the owners took great pride in maintaining.

About the property:

Bromley House Cottage is a beautiful Grade 2 listed 17th-century house set just outside rural Bridgnorth in Shropshire. The grounds cover over half an acre of land, with a beautifully manicured knot garden with a wide variety of herbs and an ornamental vegetable garden.

The challenge:

The property’s old brick septic tank was failing to allow groundwater in through its porous walls as well as the effluent to run away. The owners of the property had become frustrated at having to regularly empty it and wanted to get the best possible long term solution for it.

The result:

Stuart Manson, the owner of Bromley House Cottage, commented: “We looked around on the internet and spoke to various different contractors before we came across Cotterill Civils. Andrew Cotterill came out to see us and took a lot of time to understand our situation and really focussed on our needs.

Cotterills recommended and installed a Klargester BioDisc which pumped to a remote soak away on another lawn. We have a lovely garden, of which we are very proud but Cotterills devised a route for the mini-diggers to come through that ensured there was hardly any disruption. The route was meticulous and was like threading a needle as they managed to avoid damage to hedgerows, shrubs and our ornamental vegetable garden.

Cotterill Civils staff were an absolute pleasure to have around. They were extremely sympathetic to our needs and our beloved garden. They were also reliable and got the job done quickly.

We are delighted with our installation. You would never have thought any building work had ever gone on. We would never hesitate to recommend Cotterill Civils to anyone.”
