Hampton Bishop

Dear Andrew

Our six modern houses stand in the beautiful village of Hampton Bishop, near Hereford City.  They were built only some eight or nine years ago and occupy land between the Rivers Way and Lugg bordering a fairly narrow road.

The developer installed a sewage plant to serve six houses and he positioned it at the entrance to our small estate bordering the road.  The householders arranged regular servicing and emptying of the system and it became  apparent from the outset that the tank had been sited too low to the general ground level  which meant it was below the water table, as was demonstrated on more that one occasion when the road flooded causing the tank to disappear from view being covered in flood water!

Another major concern was a large visible split on the tank casing which appeared to have always been evident and was believed to have been caused when the developer initially installed the system.

What with these concerns and the fact that the tank was buckling the serving engineers condemned the system on health and safety grounds.  The NHBC were approached and tenders were obtained.

Out of the tendering companies it quickly became apparent that Cotterill Civils Ltd., stood head and shoulders above the other in their totally professional attitude in explaining the problems they encountered and the remedial work to be undertaken.  The tank had to be raised and encased in concert and then reconnected to some existing pipe work.

We were even able to liaise constantly with Andrew Cotterill – straight to the top so to speak!

The work was completed in cold and wet winter weather in an excellent manner.  It was a very big job in the replacing the large tank in a confined space next to a road, but not once were we inconvenienced  and unable to use the system which we all regarded as a fantastic achievement by a group of committed workmen.

Our tank is now considerably higher that the original position and will not be flooded in severe weather.

The site was returned to clean perfection by Cotterills upon the completion of the work and all our minds are easier now.

We, as a small group of householders, cannot praise the company higher enough in the exacting standard of their workmanship in shockingly adverse winter weather conditions when not once did we have to endure lack of sewage facilities that we all take for granted.

A fantastic company who provided a service second to none.

Thank you
